Booking a Hair & Makeup Service
In the “Contact & Booking” form submission, select “I am inquiring about Hair & Makeup Services” in the dropdown field. Sending a message through the website is not exclusively for Practical Makeup sessions, so our communication will continue via email from there.
Some services require a deposit in order to reserve the date, especially if you are booking several months out, but this is not an additional booking fee. The deposit will go toward the cost of the full service as listed/agreed upon. Depending on location, there may be a small carting fee to account for long-distance travel or a remote destination, but instances like these are uncommon.
The last thing anyone needs is a surprise expense, so clients can expect a clear, itemized breakdown of the full cost of service before any payment is due. If, on the day, there are any requests that fall outside the scope of the agreement, the additional cost will be communicated directly to the client for their explicit approval before the service is performed.
Artist’s Statement
Practical Makeup and Hair & Makeup Services are available to any and all interested parties, regardless of age or gender identity. Additionally, lessons and preparation areas are easily and readily modified for individuals with disabilities or limited mobility to ensure that they are comfortable while receiving the highest quality service. My hair and makeup kit is completely mobile, so I am more than happy to accommodate for any client who is best served in an environment of their choosing.
I am well-trained, experienced, and prepared to provide product and styling services to clients with any and all hair types. I am experienced and fully prepared to provide a full shade range of products and the highest quality of makeup application for all clients.
While makeup application certainly crosses over into skincare, I am not a dermatologist. I give careful consideration to skin type, and while I can comfortably address aesthetic concerns (hyper-pigmentation, acne, etc.), more serious skin conditions— especially those affected by wearing makeup— should be handled directly with a medical professional. I will honor any and all skin concerns to the best of my abilities, but I defer directly to any information set forth by a licensed dermatologist or medical professional and reserve the right to decline the service if it presents any risk to the health of the client.
If the client has any allergies, they must be disclosed. There are many sanitary practices and alternative product options available to safely provide hair and makeup services to clients with allergies or skin sensitivities, but all safety measures must be communicated and agreed upon in advance. The client’s health and safety comes before anything else, so service may be declined if it presents any serious risk.
My hair and makeup kit, as well as all brushes and tools, undergo a thorough cleaning and sanitization process. I favor the use of disposable applicators and dispense product with a spatula onto a sanitized palette whenever possible. Brushes will not be shared between clients. Each brush is thoroughly washed between uses with dish detergent, rinsed, and dipped into 70% isopropyl alcohol. All product surfaces and components are cleaned with 70% isopropyl alcohol and placed under UV light for disinfection.
